If someone were creating a bet tracker for you, what would you want it to do?

Hey y'all,

I'm creating a bet tracker for myself to use, either in excel or through some sort of web interface to a database. I figured that as long as I was creating something for me to use, why don't I create something that we could all use? That way, we can all use it to get better at handicapping.

So, basically, I'm asking you guys for things that you would want a bet tracker that you use to be able to do. Things I probably wouldn't think of, but that you think would be really cool to have done for you.

Some of the obvious things that I've thought about are:

1) Easy way to enter bets in
2) Easy way to see the bets that I've entered
3) Ability to see your progress by date (graph of your bankroll by date)
4) Ability to sort your results by bet type (did I do better betting spreads vs. totals? NFL vs. NBA? 1st halves vs. Full games?)
5) Ability to sum up how much I've wagered at any sportsbook (so that I can calculate my rollover and how much I have left to wager)
6) Automatic factoring in of matchbook commissions (If I accept an offer for -101, I'm really getting -101.8 for example in baseball)

I'm pretty handy with these things, so don't worry about how complicated something might be to program/do. Basically, I'm trying to figure out things that would be useful that I haven't thought about yet.

So if you had someone creating a bet tracker for you, what would want it to do?

Hopefully, with y'all's good ideas, we'll all be able to use this and get better at betting!

*bump*

So tons of replies to threads about a song by miley cyrus and Katy Perry, but none to one that actually has to do with gambling? And one that could help us all at that? :D

Surely some of y'all have ideas for things you've always wanted to know/keep track of/do that you haven't been able to before?

haha Stinky. Thanks for the pity?

I'll find a way to incorporate what you asked for. So a big concentration on things broken down by book, eh? I can do that.

When you say keep up with your passwords, what do you mean exactly? Do you a want a page that will display all your passwords? Or something else entirely? (it seems really insecure if you want a page to display all your passwords is the main reason I ask)

Anybody else?

I originally wanted to create a bet tracker so that i could seperate the kind of bets that I made to see what I was good at. Plus, it's pretty cool to see a graph of my progress. But other than that, I don't have much direction. I'd really like to hear from you guys. I want to create something that we can all use! :modemman:

I like everything you suggested so far..maybe something with direct links to some sites that show public % and/or line movement(s)..just throwing ideas around..best of luck !

(maybe some sort of tracker as well? so you could have test system(s) going that wouldn't effect the rest)

yeah i just know its a pain in the ass when i change computers keeping up with all the sites and user names and pw's etc.

looking at how u do at certain books is important. a lot of times i'll have places i can't win at and vice versa. you can use it as a tool in determining what the right side of a game figures to be as well.

I was just messing with you about the pity thing. I agree with you. I hate it when i ask a gambling question and nobody fucking answers me. I look up and a thread about shaving your ass against the grain or with the grain has like 3 pages worth of bullshit on it. lol

Ah, ok. To do what you're asking, I'd have to make a web interface, but no big deal. So as long as you trust storing all your passwords in one place, I can definitely make a page that simply lists all your books with their associated passwords and usernames.

I'm a little confused as to what you're asking for. What you're asking for seems pretty different from what a bet tracker would do (to me, a bet tracker is a place where you log all your bets and view your past performance).

So you want to see your bets and if they were on the public side? For instance, if you bet on the Saints vs. the Lions, you want to see if your bet was a public bet or not?
