Many US states have a 5 cent deposit. It kind of is a failure ( IMO). It has become too difficult to pump the cans/ bottles through the machines in the US.
The fucking Machines clog up usually after putting 10 cans in them, then you have to get the CS department at the Supermarket to send some numnutz to empty the machine. I can't spend 30 minutes trying to get $5 for my deposits.
huge failure, most Gringos just throw deposit cans and bottles in the trash, now !
It started in 1980 in CT. The then 5cent deposit ( then) was like a 2010 quarter, I'd pick up a case of beer empties if somebody left them at the beach, worth returning for the deposit...then, not now !
I'd pick up a discarded case of bottles for $6 deposit ( now), but not $1.20.
