I'm not here to argue Karma and reincarnation or heavan or hell.....let's just say you knew (although it is truly unknown) that there was nothing. you live, you die, and thats it........

HOW WOULD YOU BEHAVE?

1) Would you cheat on your wife? (assuming ya'll don't already do that)
2) Would you go into crime (stealing, fraud, etc.)
3) Would you murder someone?
4) Would you live exactly like you do now with the same morals?

There are still laws and you risk going to jail if you steal/kill people.....but will you direct all your actions only to pleasing yourself? Do you turn into a full on douche?

First, I would wonder why I believed that I could be any more than 100% positive about anything, seeing as that should be the maximum.

Then,

1) No
2) No
3) No
4) yes.

hahhaa...yeah 100% is the max but I just wanted to make my point that this isn't the issue....the issue is how different we would behave. I wonder how often people apply the golden rule.....

you are a good man

I honestly think a majority of the people would drastically change their lifestyle.....no one would think about karma and everyone would be doing whatever made them happy.....gambling would double, prostitution would triple, drugs would quadruple

why would you want to spend you life in prison if you caught doing some (murder) of these things.....if you are positive there is nothing after you die...you might want to make the most of your time on earth then....your scenario may have the exact opposite effect

Which is exactly why i think the premise that "we cant be sure" is proven wrong by your questions. Had every human being since Adam had these same choices to make there is no way the species could have survived this long....

But to answer the question....The fear of GOD has kept from doing a lot of things in my life that were very very bad......Hasnt stopped from doing a lot of dumb shit however...lol

when you are children you only behave because you know you will get spanked or have to sit in a corner. When parents aren't looking you do what you want.

If you are a dog you don't eat food off the dinner table cause your owner will kick you 10 feet accross the room. When they aren't there you grab whatever you can and eat fast.

When you are an adult, you don't go killing someone you hate for 3 reasons.....1) religious beliefs about the afterlife and karma, 2) you don't want to go to jail, or 3) your personal morals. 2 and 3 will still be there for most......so I can see killing someone not being AS influenced....but what about:

cheating on your wife - you aint going to jail
cheating on a test
stealing money from a friend

I think there are a lot of lesser crimes that may be committed as well.....just in general I think society would be fucked....but good to know my gambling buddies remain unphased!

you have my thought process but you are missing my scenario.....I'm not trying to argue GOD....i'm simply taking away the "fear of GOD"

Only the weak need God to make them moral.

I wouldn't change cause I don't believe in it to begin with and my morals are fine.

Doesn't matter. What i do now has no effect on my after life, that is if there is one.

I do believe there is something, what that is, who knows.

Those that turn to all the religion smegion bullsheet is out of fear, period.

I'm not here to argue Karma and reincarnation or heavan or hell.....let's just say you knew (although it is truly unknown) that there was nothing. you live, you die, and thats it........

If you need to ask that question, you are a bad man. I don't believe in god or after life. But if there was god and after life and If you lived your life with good morals just to get into heaven or whatever you will not get there.

ok.. as per OP.. strip away fear of judgement and punishment...

I think any man has to live by a code. A code that facilitates trust and loyalty among those he knows. trust/loyalty/respect. those life items help us navigate our lives in a productive way. The man who lives by killing and cheating will forever be looking over his shoulder. So.. my answer is.. live life the way I have been trying to. I'm not perfect, but I have the trust and respect of my friends and associates and loved ones.
