The guy didn't even shoot 50% in one of the 7 games and shot 40% overall in the series. Guy straight gets his points from FT shooting. To compare him to Michael Jordan is simply laughable.

He was the best player on the court for 3 of the 4 games that LAL won... Not sure who else deserved it? This was a defensive series. Numbers are not going to look good.

So, he was the best player in 3 of the 7 games? Why was he the best? Because he had the most points? He was awful in 6 and 7 when his team needed him the most. Legends step up in those huge games.

He sure wasn't the best in games 3 and 5 either.

Rondo was the best player in the series. But the C's didn't win so can't give it to him. Actually, I think Kobes best game was GM 5 when the lake show lost but Bryant did everything to keep L.A in it.

Like I asked earlier. Who deserved it more? Everyone on both teams had awful games. Both teams played great defense. Celtics lost so you can eliminate Boston players. Also they had different players step up in each game and no 1 dominated more then a game here or there...

BTW, I don't get why he was awful in game 6? He had 26 points on 47% shooting. He had 11 rebounds and 4 steals while holding Rondo to 5-15 shooting and 5 assists. All this against 1 of the best defenses in the NBA in the last 10+ years and against 1 of the top pgs in the league.

This guy had a better series than Kobe:

Game 1- 8-14 23 Points and 14 Rebounds
Game 2-7-10 25 Points and 8 Rebounds
Game 3-5-11 13 Points and 10 Rebounds
Game 4-6-13 21 Points and 6 Rebounds
Game 5-5-12 12 Points and 12 Rebounds
Game 6-6-14 17 Points and 13 Rebounds and 9 Assists
Game 7-6-16 19 Points and 18 Rebounds

Sorry rondo had 5 rebounds and 6 assists.

I think it breaks down to he was the best player on the winning team.....MVP rarely ever goes to the losing team, so you take the best player on the winning team.....

You're comparing a shooting guard like Kobe to R. Rondo? Of course K Bryant should handle him. He's a lot bigger and more athletic than a small PG. He should hold him to a low FG%.

Let's be honest though Bucs, he's on the same page but doesn't compare to MJ.

this thread is just about another kobe hater,no one else deserved it and he makes the whole team run.a mvp just isn't a guy who scores the most ,its also the guy who makes plays and gets others playing well around him.kobe is the real deal weather you like him or not,so get over it and deal with it.

Yes I am comparing the 2.. Rondo is a stud and is lightening quick and a hard cover. IMO, he was the best celtic player in the playoffs. Kobe had the honor of guarding him. BBall is both offense and defense.

Kobe is a great player. Great player...but not in the same league as MJ.

You can't be serious. Kobe is a one of the best defenders in the game and he's as quick as Rondo and much bigger. Of course K. Bryant should handle guarding Rondo. One guy is 6-1 while the other is 6-6. If he didn't handle Rondo, there'd be a problem.

Not at all. Just dealing with the facts here. Your argument is perfect for naming Rondo the MVP.

Rondo? he had about 1-2 good games in my opinion. People really need to stop saying he's the top PG in the league cause he's not.

these anti-kobe arguments are getting stupid.

first off, no player from losing team is winning finals mvp, shouldn't even be brought up. imagine if celtics won and a laker got mvp? people would be outraged!

and what does kobe not being as good as mj have to do with him winning mvp? by that logic, they should have retired the finals mvp award in 1998, as nobody will ever be as good as mj.

also, mj won a finals mvp shooting 41% against a seattle team that isn't in the same stratosphere defensively as this celtic team

i'm a celtic fan, but you kobe haters gotta give it up. pretty pathetic that you will hate on a guy because he isn't as good as mj..... NOBODY IS! kobe busts his ass, plays and trains hard, and is ruthless about winning. good enough for me.

*edit, i know jerry west won mvp from losing team. that was 41 years ago and won't happen again....

nope. rondo talent off the charts, but as a true pg, not at the top. true pg's teams dont stand around and dribble for 20 seconds and settle for bad shots in the 4q with championships on the line.

The whole point is that no 1 in the playoffs accept kobe defended Rondo well. He did something no 1 in the east could do which was slow him down. Great defense helps you win MVPs.
