seems if you had a variety of items and not junk you could make a go at it.

make a living implies buying through ebay (or garage sales, etc.) and selling on ebay

are you talking about making a living by selling our own stuff?

Me personally, I didn't do it to make a living but did it for some extra cash. Mostly selling video games. It was cool and fun at first, then got to be kind of a pain in the ass driving to
the place to ship them out. I'd do it again though, but I think the market for video games in a lot different now. It's cool as hell to watch people bid on your stuff, but hard work sometimes on the shipping end and I sold things that were easy to ship. They say that if you are serious about doing it for a living, deal in something you enjoy. I would definitely agree with that.

I could be wrong but it feels like ebay has fallen wayyy off in terms of its place in american culture and life. 7-10 years ago you heard about it all the time, can't remember last time I heard someone say "I bought (or sold) x on ebay"

just my 2 cents

I sell on Ebay as I'm selling model trains for a friend of ours who wants to sell off his entire collection. This time of year is bad as alot of people are outside doing things and if you are into model trains its a late September to April hobby. Also Ebay is still outragous with fees as you get blasted 3 times for listing, final value fees and PayPal but it is probably still is the best way to go selling items.
