Is this the book about Beth when she worked in LV and NY? If so I got to read the manuscript. Not bad at all. I enjoyed it, but may have been because I knew a lot of the people referenced in it.

I actually picked it up at the barnes and nobles @ rittenhouse square for $27 :p
I'm sure she lied about her own involvement in many cases, but the use of names and indepth details about Books in CR... I doubt there will be another book like it for a VERY long time, at least one that'll bget published

I agree with you about another one not being published. She's got big elephant balls I'll give her that much. Would love an explanation on how Dave Greenberg was able to carry a figure for a significant amount of time after collecting several thousand dollars then re opening his account hitting a 7 team parlay for $40k or whatever and then getting paid in full immediately? That was real head scratcher :think2:

Well I had some thoughts:
A. She's really stupid
B. She was really convinced he would go to the police if she didnt reopen his account
C. There were details she left out(?)

Should have been explained better for the sake of the book that's all I'm saying. Since most of the other memoirs were pretty clearly dead on accurate she kinda did the book an injustice by leaving so many holes in that particular one. Re-opening an account to keep someone from running to the cops is a tactic I would never recommend to anyone

Other than

  • The New York Times | A.O. Scott The movie is a bust, and, as usual in these situations, it is easier to say how than why, and best to say as little as possible, cut one's losses and move on
and

  • The Guardian | Peter Bradshaw Stephen Frears is a supremely accomplished director, but perhaps there was little he could do with this garbled and unsatisfying story about gambling

Couldn't possibly be as bad as "we were wiseguys and we didn't even know it" thinks that's the title of that piece of shit book. Read like a 10 yr old wrote it.

Listen, Duke you know me. I'm a total moron. But, I read every day and usually nothing on the light side. I thought We Were Wiseguys and We Didn't Know it was a good read. I spoke to Scott telling him as much. At least his book lacks the stink of a second rate romance novel that puts gambling on the back burner. And, yes the movie was crap, but if you read the book you would understand why.

I was in a bar with the main character for about two hours unable to take a sip of my beer. He schooled me on baseball and I came to the realization I should never bet on sports. He never spoke about betting baseball per se or having an edge, instead he talked about a single baseball team. Not really getting him I think he was trying to get through my thick Irish head a simple fact. If you're serious about betting sports you better be prepared. Believe me, this book does him no justice.
