Really wanted to play the Royals as well, but I'm going to pass as I feel the over is by far the best action on this game. Both pitchers have really struggled lately (B. Chen is 2-1 with a 1.53 WHIP and 5.29 ERA, L. Hernandez is 1-1 with a 1.71 WHIP and 5.79 ERA). If these pitchers put on average 1 and a half base runners on base each half of an inning this thing will fly over. Not to mention that the Nats pound lefties as do the Royals with righties. Tonights lineups:
Nats (vs. lefties)
Morgan (.200)
Guzman (.380)
Zimmerman (.283)
Dunn (.276)
Willingham (.291)
Irod (.409)
Morse (.333)
Desmond (.267)
Livan (.111)
Outside of the pitcher spot, Morgan is the only week link versus lefties.
Royals (vs. righties)
Posednik (.279)
Kendell (.241)
DeJusus (.350)
Butler (.335)
Guillen (.271)
Callaspo (.279)
Aviles (.350)
Betancourt (.259)
Chen (N/A)
Again, not many weak spots in the line (only 2 guys batting below .270 verse righties)
On the season, the Royals have hit righties at .279 and 2.95 in their last 10 and the Nats have hit lefties at .280 and .338 their last 10.
In the overall heap of things, the Nats of given up 6+ runs in 6 of their last 9 games and the Royals have giving up 5+ runs in 9 of their last 12 games.
Trend of the game: Over is 8-2 last 10 Royal games.
