Spain and Brazil are still by far the best.

spain, brazil, argentina

holland wont make it imo, they're playing very sloppy, van persie cant score even an empty goal with his hands, robben is still not fit, it aint clicking.

germany will be cool i think

I had Spain at the start of the tourney and I'll stick with them, but from what I've seen I really like the way Argentina is playing.

I hardly ever gamble on Soccer, but I've made a few bucks this world cup (my largest bet has been $2.00) by mainly playing the dogs.

In all reality I have no clue how to handicap these games - just watching to see who seems to want it more.

Spain isn't even assured a position in the next round yet.
hahaha...exactly...everyone might wanna stop sipping the spain kool aid....it's a lil different when they are the favorite entering the tourney...even if they make it into the knockout round, someone will smash them up and out...they don't have any killer insinct....argentina doesn't seem to have that 'it' thing either....would agree brasil does seem to have the 'it' thing working fer it rite now....but i keep telling everyone that the dutch steam roller is slowly gaining momentum....and them and brasil are heading fer a quarterfinal clash.....

It clearly seems to be brazil. they took care of Ivory coast with east, and Beat the stream as the books seemed to be screaming for Brazil.

lots of changes in the lineup today....not that the drop off(if there is one)is that crazy....no heinze, tevez, mascherano, samuel, higuain, or di maria...but a front line of milito, aguero, and messi is nothing to sneeze at....actually playing the over 2'-110...and a cupla dollers on props that argentina wins 3-2 at 25-1..and the draw 2-2 at 16-1(all at the greek)..reason behind this....that fron line has seen lil action in the world cup thus far, sans messi....feel messi hooks them up as well as himself...finally....and greece will be forced at a certain point to push forward.....cheers

holland is a great team and can put up numbers offensively with the best of them. it is clear they are missing robben right now but he is fit and ready o play. with robben and sneijder in form look out for the dutch to make an impact. there for real, and dont worry about the defense, they are solid as a unit. the fact that their winning without arguably their best player is scary.

I Posted this in Wil Thread, the one that talked about 7 New Players..

That doesn't even Bother Me....Argentina 2nd squad is better than Greece's 1st Squad...IMO

Not that the Italians should scare anyone with their play right now but if Italy and Paraguay both win on Thursday then Holland would face Italy in the knockout stage.

being a dutch suppporter, i fear no one in this years world cup...in the past, there always seemed to be some excuse...there will be no excuse this year...all the talent is there fer a cup to be had

exactly. i am a dutch supporter as well myself, and this team is different than the others. there top players in robben and sneijder are in form, they have plenty of talent and speed coming off the bench, they have two great players that can control the middle of the field and provide support on both sides of the ball (de jong, van bommel) and they have a defense that is solid as a unit. look out for this team to do some serious damage and possibly take home the cup. anything less than a finals appearance will be considered a disapointment. even a loss in the finals will be considered a slight tragedy.

hup hup holland!

I agree with almost anything you said, especially that Robben should give them a huge lift since he appears to play way better next to Snijder than van der Vaart, who is too similar to Snijders playing style, and is much better suited for the right or left side.
Also they improved vastly on their (team) defense and far more disciplined defensively than in the past.
But one thing I disagree with you: De Jong is far away from being a great player, easily one of the worst players on that team imo.
This team can beat anybody, but against a great defensive team like URU f.e. I would have a really bad feeling...

Spain and Brazil will always be extremely dangerous as long as they aren't eliminated yet, but both could clash in the 1st round already.
Really open competition imo, ARG might get eliminated because of their rather weak defensive line, but can beat anybody any given day.
If Germany advances, they are also playing really well so far. URU will be tough in the elimination rounds due to their great defense and Forlan.

while i agree, soriano ,about uruguay and their style of play...they didn't go up against any of the offensive juggernauts in this tourney coming out of group 'a'....will be very interested to see them play the open style play of some of the euro's in the quarters possibly england or germany..cheers

I like The Dutch also but not at a mile and three sixteenths on turf. Give me Argentina with Maradona up - after dusting Nigeria 1-0, South Korea 4-1 and Greece 2-0 they are in fine form..
