This may not be the best time for Albert Haynesworth to be missing checks and paying fines.

Clayton Bank and Trust in Knoxville, Tenn. is suing the former Titans star defensive tackle for failing to make payments on a $2.38 million loan.

Haynesworth, who signed a $100 million free-agent deal with Washington in March 2009, has refused to participate in the Redskins' offseason activities, did not report to a mandatory mini-camp last week and has requested a trade.

The suit, filed last week, states that the loan was made last June, and despite an extension, Haynesworth has failed to make the necessary payments. The bank seeks more than $2.4 million including unpaid interest and late fees.

In the last 5 years I have had 1 former and 1 current NFL player that my collection agency has had placed for collections. In the 20+ years I've been doing this I've seen about 10 NFL players and about 6 or 7 NBA players come through the shops I've worked at.

Had NO problems collecting from the current nfl players - but they have been very, very difficult to get on the phone. Almost impossible. The way we've done it has been to go and leave a message for the Player's agent and try to get a message to the collector that way.

Now, the former players - just a big waste of time. Haven't seen any money from any of them. Most of the time they are Millions in debt and not paying anybody, and the money they had is long gone. They start a lifestyle thinking they're gonna stay on top forever and when they don't make the roster forget about it. They keep spending like when they had it and using the credit cards for cash advances with no way to pay it back.
