World Cup
Algeria vs. United States
Wednesday, 10 am Eastern – ESPN

A spot in the knockout round is on the line on Wednesday as Algeria battles the United States in a World Cup betting match that can be seen on ESPN. The U.S. has just two draws in their first two matches but with a win over Algeria they can advance to the round of 16 and probably win Group C in the process. England battles Slovenia at the same time in the other Group C match.

The United States is a solid favorite at SBG Global to defeat Algeria. The three-way line has the United States at -130, Algeria at +280 and the Draw at +250. The total on the match is 2.5 under. The United States has shown the ability to score some goals as they had two against Slovenia and they would have had three if not for a bad referee’s call. Algeria has shown no ability to create chances so the U.S. should have the advantage on Wednesday.

Algeria can play defense but to advance to the knockout round they must beat the United States. A draw will not get the job done. Algeria captain Antar Yahia has said that his team plays well collectively and that gives them a chance on Wednesday. The problem for Algeria is that they have no one who can score. They held England to a scoreless draw and while their defense was excellent, they never threatened the England goal.

The United States has had a problem of giving up the first goal in recent matches and that is something they simply can’t afford to do against Algeria. If they make a mistake and give up the first goal against Algeria they would find it very tough to penetrate the Algerian defense. They shouldn’t have that issue against an Algerian team that simply has no offense. Algeria does have a strong midfield though with Karim Ziani and Yazid Mansouri but unless the U.S. makes a big mistake it will be tough for Algeria to score. The U.S. has been resilient after falling behind in matches but history says that trend will catch up with them. In World Cup betting matches from 1998-2006, 160 teams gave up the first goal and only 21 teams came back to win. Just 36 others came back to gain a draw.

The U.S. is trying to advance to the second round for the first time since 2002. They will do so with a win over Algeria and they might even get through with a draw. A draw seems unlikely though since Algeria faces a must-win while the U.S. is probably in that situation as well since England is likely to defeat Slovenia.

The defense of the US is rather weak, but I still kind of like USA clean sheet/ ALG Under 0.5 goals +150 because Algeria lacks offensive power.

i really just see usa choking this game away. The back 4 have been horrible on defense for quite some time and the only goal algeria has allowed was on a late fluke goalie mistake. I could really see a 2-1 loss for the usa, but hoping they come out on fire. a game im avoiding besides some props

One thing I would like to see happen , but I just can't put money on is the US take an early lead. It always seems the US allows the opposition to do so within the first 25mins of the game before settling down. This cannot happen today.

USA should take care of business here. Took them -0.5 -105 earlier.

I put my money on the USA not winning at +110. This is a bet I won't mind losing, but so far we (USA) have shown a tendency to give up the early goal, not to mention the ability to screw up games we should win. We certainly seem to have the firepower up front to score, but our defense usually is extremely vulnerable.

US doesn't look like a team ready to move on to the knockout round.

I refuse to watch this horseshit any more until the finals. A horrible, horrible showing by officials. It's bad enought to watch this boring shit with the dives.

Seems like they would have let that one stand just knowing how the last goal from the prior game was striked away. In other words they would be less likely to call the offsides....but fucking the US in this event is a priority so far.
