Rangers get Bengie for Ray and RHP prospect Bengie Molina - C - TEX - Jul. 1Rangers acquired catcher Bengie Molina from the Giants for RHP Chris Ray and RHP Michael Main.
The Rangers have been on the hunt for a solid presence at catcher to spell Matt Treanor and Max Ramirez. That hunt is over. Molina should get a nice helping of playing time in Texas and will surely post better stats in the shallow confines of the Ballpark at Arlington. He was batting just .257/.312/.332 with three homers and 17 RBI in 202 at-bats for San Francisco.

this is a big move how come it has not been talked about more? why are Giants trading away bats when they need all they can get? I guess now Posey will be playing behind the plate?

We don't need him, gets Posey behind the plate and Huff back in the infield more often

Molina is atrocious at the plate, currently slugging .332, and is the slowest player in MLB. Having Posey at C instead of at 1B while replacing Molina is a big upgrade in the lineup.

yeah the more I think about it seems like a good deal for both teams. Ray is solid relief pitcher too, added to an already strong bullpen.
