I know there are six divisions, but nobody can call the NYY a surprise.

But the other five division leaders all aren't supposed to be on top as of July 4.
Which team is the most surprising,

Texas Rangers:
Don't look at me, at the end of March I started a thread stating why the Rangers will win their division at 2:1 and got ridiculed for it.

Minnesota Twins:
How are they doing it?
With smoke and mirrors?

Atlanta Braves?
Weren't the Phillies supposed to have this wrapped up by now?

Cincy Reds?
I thought the Cards were supposed to be the best in the whole entire senior circut.?

SD Padres?
Who?

IMO the Cincy reds would have to be the biggest surprise. The Padres are also a surprise but you can look on paper at their good young pitching staff and at least make sense of it , i have no idea how the Reds have done this well.

I haven't gone back and looked at the thread, but I don't recall you getting ridiculed.

The Padres would be my pick for biggest surprise, followed by either Atlanta or Cincy.

Imagine if San Diego was even an average hitting team! They would really be incredible, with a most definite +103 or more wins this season.

San Diego is ranked 26th in Batting Average, 21st in Runs Scored, and 24th in Home Runs, and yet still boast a very good 47-33 .588 record, on pace for a 94-96 wins this season, if they can keep it up.

Not ridiculed per se, but got crap from Angel and A's fans.

A's fans? they were projected to be last so i hope they werent expecting Oaktown to be in first.

LAA wasnt supposed to be first either. It was supposed to be Felix+Cliff leading Seattle to the title.
Texas battled LAA last year for first and was in the WildCard race too. Their minor leagues are arguably the best in MLB.

my answer is easy. SD. Atlanta is a little surprising but they have been there before recently. Cincy is too but they have the hitting to get it done. SD was supposed to be last. The talk before the season was how soon into the season would they start dumping players or why they didnt dump them before the season to get value.

not fading them at the moment. 2nd half when their starting pitching will become below average. Garland in his career is a horrible 2nd half pitcher and already he has already begun his decline, his #'s are good by smoke and mirrors. Leblanc wont be used to the work load and all the innings, he has started to come back to earth as well and Correia has been horrible but it has been covered up due to the teams success. Add that with a very weak hitting line up.........

no question sd. most picked them dead last and the biggest question facing them was where gonzalez would be traded. reds are surprising, but sd is biggest surprise of all.
