Do cd (music) repair kits work?

For skips, repeating,etc. I looked and saw kits for $30-40. How about kits that are supposed to clean (sic), the laser lens

try turtle wax and cheesecloth if the scratches are not too bad. Wipe from inside to out, not in a circle.

yes this works great, or you can use a papertowel also
