Thome hits two homers; now 10th on HR list Jim Thome - DH - MIN - Jul. 3 Jim Thome hit his 573rd and 574th career home runs against the Rays on Saturday, passing Harmon Killebrew for 10th place on the all-time home run list.
Thome connected for a pair of opposite field solo homers, one in the second inning and one in the fourth. He just missed a third with an RBI double in ninth. It was the 45th multi-homer game of Thome's career and his first since August 5, 2009. The 39-year-old slugger has 10 home runs over 139 at-bats with the Twins this season. Next up? Mark McGwire, who ranks ninth on the all-time list with 583 home runs.
