NEW YORK -- Hot dog!

Competitive eater Joey Chestnut has held on to his title at the annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest at New York's Coney Island, but one of his biggest rivals tried to crash the celebration and has been taken into custody.

Chestnut chomped down on 54 hot dogs in 10 minutes on Sunday to win the annual Nathan's International Hot Dog Eating Contest for the fourth year in a row.

Watching from the crowd was six-time champion Takeru Kobayashi, who has not signed a contract with Major League Eating to be free to compete in contests sanctioned by other groups.

But Kobayashi went on stage after the competition. Police officers grabbed him, and he tried to hold onto police barricades as they took him into custody.

i just find it funny that there is Major League Eating rules and sanctions for events and eaters have to be under contract.

Maybe its just me but i found it funny as hell that the second it was over they brought the Champ a bottle of Pepto Bismol and put a banner up behind him about Pepto. The mind of an Advertising Executive runs non-stop obviously....lol

Did you see the 't' shirt Koba was wearing when they arrested him.

"Free Koba"

(saw it on the local news)

It's all a put on.
The 't' shirt he was wearing suggest it's a publicity stunt.

Did you see the pre-production?
It was a farce that would have made Vince McMahon proud.
They had this Michael Buffer wannabe introducing the contestants, 'Eater-X' was made up like some Rey Mysterio type, having said that, like the WWE that type of silliness amuses me.
