I'm going to say it once again. Signing Amare Stoudemire to a max deal will kill the Knicks

Trust me when I say this but let me make a few points.

1) Amare is well known throughout the league as being immature and a head case. He's not the brightest guy in the world. There's a reason the Suns have been trying to trade him for 4 years and nobody took the bait.

2) Amare doesn't hustle 100% of the time, doesn't rebound and is terrible on defense.

3) If given the choice, do you really think Lebron would choose to play with this guy over Bosh or Boozer? Not a chance in hell. The Knicks were granted a second visit with Lebron so they could tell him Amare was full of shit and hasn't been offered a max deal. The Knicks were afraid that news would scare Lebron off.

4) Guy went to 6 High Schools and his mom has been in and out of prison his entire life. Dad died when he was 12. I heard today on "The Herd" that Amare once said his two driving motivations in life were God and Tupac Shakur. Good god, are you serious?

5) Has had a serious knee injury.

6) Played well last year in a contract year.

Mark my words. You will be looking at G. Arenas here in a year or two. Maybe Jon Koncak.

not to rain on your parade but Suns execs are on record saying they were really impressed with Amare this year with his maturity and team leadership in the locker room. Even said he has made strides on defense as well. lol. I'm sure if they had a beef with him they would let it be known since they are no longer tied together.

the Knicks are in trouble if Amare is their lone signing but with a player like Lebron they would be the most lethal Pick N Roll combo in NBA History.

"Walsh explained that the meeting was salary cap related to explain the Knicks cap options this year and next with James’ agent."

dont think it was cause they were scared of scaring LBJ off..

you certainly have a vendetta on the man though.

You really do believe in this guy don't you? They've been trying to trade him forever. That is not in dispute. You don't try and trade a guy that is a leader, hard work and a pleasure to be around. Strides on defense? LOLLLLLLLL.

I also think Amare is a poor move for a max deal (for any team, really). His rpg, ppg and fg% all were lower in the playoffs (i think) than the regular season... I've never seen him as a very strong player when it comes to the mental side of the game, and his lack of skill as far as team defense goes can only set a new team back.

Believe what you will but when Amare announced the Knicks had offered him a max deal he was not telling the truth and the Knicks were afraid that news would scare the shit out of Lebron. Trust me, Lebron is their #1 target and if Lebron comes to NY and wants Bosh then Amare gets zero. Lebron is in charge and rumor has it he's not a big fan of Amare (not many are).

No vendetta's at all. Just telling it like it is.

He's not a serial killer but the quote from the other poster from Phoenix was telling. Listen to the talk around the NBA and pull your head out of the sand. The guy is a cancer in the locker room.

Let me ask you this. If LJ had his choice in what order would he take Bosh, Stoudamire and Boozer? I guarantee you Stoudamire is 3rd on that list.

Aggree with the topic starter. Amare can look like the best player int he league some nights. But he isn't a top of the line superstar. Shouldn't get max money. He's been in the league a while and is an allstar, but it's doubtful he will improve much from now on. Not to mention the baggage or injuries and attitude at times.

Fourth best free agent out there, but don't know if you want to lock your teams near term future on him. If there are no better options why not, no use keeping the money in the bank.

Amare Stoudemire - F/C - Suns

Amare Stoudemire's is "on the cusp" of agreeing to a five-year, $100 million deal with the Knicks, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The report has been confirmed by various other unnamed league sources, as the Knicks are willing to gamble on the All-Star power forward despite his history of injuries. There was never much doubt that Amare would accept a max deal in NY, and the question becomes -- who can the Knicks add now that he's on board? Jul. 5 - 4:32 p.m. ET

probably that order, maybe Amare ahead of Boozer with Amare having the most talent out of all 3. Just cant see Stoudamire keeping LBJ from coming to a team or dogging it and not putting out max effort if he is on the same team as LBJ. Everyone knows Lebron makes everyone on the court around him better, even Lebron.

As long as the Dolans own the garden there will be no championships celebrated there. Unfortunately that goes for hockey too.

just showed a stat on ESPN with Amare being #1 in points in the paint last season about 200 points ahead of Howard who was 2nd and I dont even think Bosh or Boozer were on the list.

You know that is a misleading stat, he plays for a team that runs more than anyone except GSW and he plays with the best passer in the league. Yes, you could argue for Boozer with D Wills, but PHX games are like Layup lines.

He does shoot well from the line for a big guy.

Amare must be smoking that good if he thinks Melo is going to come to the Knicks next off season. Don't see that happening myself.
