just finished it, thought it was pretty good. Anyone know some other good gambling books like that? I would also like to trade out with someone if you haven't read it. :103631605

Bringing Down The House(BJ) and Busting Vegas(BJ) are decent if you haven't read those. The Winner(Lottery) is one of my all time faves.Poker Wisdom Of A Champion(Poker) is a great read and so is One Of A Kind"the rise and fall of Stu Unger"(Poker)also one of my all time faves.
If you are just talking about sports betting only then I'm not really sure but I have read The Smart Money and liked it a lot too.I have seen other threads here talking about similar books, you may want to search for those.

How long are these books I mean are they just stories about sports gambling or a book dedicated to advice.

they are just stories and they do have some advice but they are not "how to gamble" type things, about 350 pages.

I think that Scotty Schettler's book, "WE WERE WISEGUYS AND DIDN'T KNOW IT" is top notch. It's a fast easy read and tells you a lot about the action that was going on at the Stardust in the 80's and early 90's. Makes you wonder why bookmaking can't go back to the "old days" instead of these books being afraid to take a bet.

Books are just an amentity now to the casino. Not there to make a killing. Nor are they there to be a money loser. Draw players in and get them to the machines and tables where the real money is made.

Just read "Sharp Sports Betting" by Stanford Wong. Pretty much advice for the beginner.

Someone should start a thread called "The Rx suggested Reading List" for gambling books

Smart Money was good. Another book by Konik I liked even more was Man with the $100 000 Breasts, about wacky gambling stories; also has a follow up I should check out

As far as sports gambling books go, The Odds is the next best one, which means it is pretty mediocre literature. Millman does write good stuff for ESPN magazine, but books that read like 200 page magazine articles are too often tough to read

Picked up SuperBookie from the library this week. About half is good, about half is mostly a primer for people who don't know anything about sports gambling. If you can figure out which parts to skip, it would be a good way to pass the day

Bet the House is a new book by some B-list celebrity going on a month long gambling binge. Decent enough

Bringing Down the House could go at the top, thought it was one of the best stories when it came out. Unfortunately when I learned so much of it was fiction, it left a very bad taste

Thanks for the other suggestions, BA and JA
