For The Record..

We do the best we can with new sign-ups. Each one is subject to two IP checks, one to see if they have any other posters registered to their IP (aka Ghosts) and the other to make sure their posting location is not from places like Nigeria, Russia, China etc where 99.9% of registrations are here to try and sell or scam something. We are also always on the lookout for Proxy Server IPs.

Regarding suspected ghosts, we have the triangular report a post icon in every post box and many posters use it to report suspected ghosts. All of these are throughly checked out also. Bennyshoe hasn't a clue how much work we put into protecting the site from ghosts, shils and scammers. By far running IP checks and protecting the site from unwanted types of registrations is our most time consuming mod activity.

We have a pre established check list that I wrote three years ago and have updated frequently ever since. All new registrations are put through the entire check list before they are given the status of registered poster.

All of our mods are very adept at spotting undesirable new registrations. Without this diligent but time consuming pre-checking of new registrations the site would be over run with shills and scammers.

Naturally an occasional shil or ghost will slip through but not because they didn't go to extended lengths to do so.

So far today 22 new registrations have applied to become Rx posters. out of that number 8 were rejected for one reason or another. All of the reasons are in place to protect this site and it's posters from unwanted shils and scammers. I personally rejected 4 before 6AM EDT this morning. Mostly registrations from China out to sell mechandise on any forum that will let them.

Absolutely yes all mods can see each others IPs just like any other posters, including mine. I just worked a registration and it passed as the IP had no matches in our data base and it matched the location the newbie used in his registration form which became his data base profile (one of the fifty US states). The registration also cleared the other criteria from our check list, that criteria will remain confidential.

For the record all new registrations must check I Agree to the following statement to register.

The problem is, and I am guilty my self when I sign-up at a website, is people do not take the time to read these disclaimers. I like to use educational websites and many require you to register to view their content. Downloading software such as Adobe has these I agree paragraphs you have to check Yes to get to the next step in the download. Myself like many are guilty of just blindly agreeing to them.

I have read, and agree to abide by TheRx.com Posting Forum rules.

Everyone here agreed to the above agreement, older posters may have agreed to similar but differently worded agreements. I updated this agreement in 2006 sometime with some minor changes. Mainly the part about using website names as poster names.

Wil--Are former mods knowledgeable enough to circumvent any security measures or able to post as a ghost?

When a poster has more than one registered user name on one specific forum/site.Could also be a previously banned user making a new identity. These extra or new poster id's are known as ghosts.Multiple user names are not allowed at most forums and neither are new identities from previously banned posters.
