I know this has been discussed before....especially with our resident perv's living in Costa Rica and Thailand!!

Anyhow, here is a story from MSN about overseas retirement on a $1,200 Social Security retirement:

In English-speaking Belize, where retirees don't have to pay taxes on the first $75,000 of income and where property taxes on a $500,000 home run about $90 a year.

From reading all the blogs, it seems Belize has more of a crime problem
than I'm willing to deal with...

Most of my friends think I am nuts and that I make up these stories about Thailand....please keep those thoughts and stay under Uncle Sam's thumb....

Quality of life exists over here without your high utility bills that equal house payments over here...

You won't know the truth unless you come here for a few weeks and see for yourself....

VJ, it almost takes a couple of weeks to get there. Only kidding. Can't fly for long period's. Would have to break it into four or five trip's. Have anxiety problem's when flying, but would love to come over and play Golf

VJ, how many months per year are you there? Do you have a place in the States? How many ex-pats live there?

I like Central America area (mostly CR, Nica, and/or Panama). It's much easier to get to and very comparable price wise (as parts of Asia). Not sure if I'd live out of country for longer than 2-4 months at a time, especially in the fall.....

CR still has some nice areas..Jaco is not one of them anymore..i wouldnt touch anywhere in asia..ish..
