Boston All Star 3rd basemen Adrian Beltre strained his left hamstring in the 6th inning of today's first half ending 3-2 Res Sox win over The Toronto Blue Jays. Details are sketchy right now but odds are high he will not play in the All Star Game on Tuesday joining other Boston All Stars Victor Martinez, Dustin Pedroia, and Clay Bucholtz as unable to play in this year's All Star Game for The American League.

Joe Girardi may be forced to finally give Kevin Youkilis a call to take his place..LOL..

Big Papi won the game for Dice K with an upper deck solo shot to right in the top of the 6th when Boston scored all three of their runs. Daniel Bard was outstanding in relief of Matsuzaka who won for the first time in over a month and move his record to 6-3.
Jonathon Papelbon despite yielding two long fly-ball outs in the bottom of the 9th picked up his 20th save of the first half.

Bard in 41 appearances for the first half ended it with a record of 1-2 with an ERA of 1.90 and a whip of 0.82 with 46 Ks in 42.2 IPs.

Hopefully the injury to Beltre will not make him the 10th Red Sox to make the DL this year. Long time injured Josh Beckett was impressive in a minor league start in Pawtucket. In 4 innings of work his final line: 4 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, 4 strikeouts.

wil.
