Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox

The Texas Rangers have lost their last four baseball betting games but they still have a nice lead in the American League West. They face a stern test coming out of the All-Star break as they travel to Boston for a four-game series. It could be a good time to play the Red Sox considering all the injuries Boston is dealing with. It is never easy winning at Boston though but Texas is well positioned with their pitching for this series with Tommy Hunter set to start the opener.

SBG Global Current Line: Red Sox - 108, Total 9.5 Over -115

The Red Sox begin the second half trailing New York and Tampa in the American League East. Considering how many players are injured, the Red Sox are fortunate to be within range. All-Stars Dustin Pedroia, Victor Martinez and Clay Buchholz are on the disabled list along with pitcher Josh Beckett, catcher Jason Varitek and outfielders Jeremy Hermida and Jacoby Ellsbury. The Red Sox still lead the baseball odds league in hitting though, led by Home Run Derby winner David Ortiz.

Texas has a powerful lineup as well which could mean a lot of runs in this series. Tim Wakefield gets the start for Boston on Thursday. He is 3-7 with a 5.22 ERA and he has not pitched well in his career against the Rangers with a 6.09 ERA. The Rangers scored six runs against Wakefield back in April.

The Rangers go with Tommy Hunter on Thursday. He is 5-0 on the season with a 2.34 ERA. He has pitched very well this mlb betting season but in his only career start against Boston he was shelled for nine runs.

Texas has lost 11 of its last 14 games at Boston. The Rangers have been good on the road lately though as they are 9-2 in their last 11 road games. The Rangers are 6-2 in their last 8 road games vs. a right-handed starter. They have struggled against AL East teams though going 0-5 in their last 5 vs. the American League East. The Rangers are 6-1 in Hunter’s last 7 starts.
The Rangers are 13-38 in the last 51 meetings in Boston. The Red Sox are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. the American League West. The Red Sox are 38-18 in Wakefield’s last 56 home starts.

The Over is 5-2-1 in the Rangers last 8 road games. The Over is 4-1 in Hunter’s last 5 road starts. The Over is 6-1-1 in Wakefield’s last 8 starts vs. the American League West. The Under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Boston between the two teams.
