I never thought he was that good a manager. And I thought this year was make or break for him in Cincinnati as they have a lot of talent on the team. If I were a Reds fan, I'd be worried too that he may screw things up down the stretch. I think a big reason he keeps getting hired is that players probably like playing for him. He kinda reminds me of Charlie Manuel in that way. Most people in Cleveland didn't think he was a good manager, but the players liked him a lot. And he ended up winning a World Series with the Phillies. We'll see....

Many of his decisions are interesting to say the least, but he got the Giants to with in 12 outs of the WS. The Cubs were 1 out (I believe, Bartman incident). Reds are in contention.

Torre, LaRussa, Lou and Dusty teams are always in contention.

It's going to key imo how he uses Scott Rolen down the stretch. He seems like he's really concerned about playing him too much, but I think the Reds are really going to need Rolen down the stretch.

i actually dont think the idea is that bad.....you have to get key guys rest at times, especially a day game after a night game, and many managers try to take 1 guy out a game, and u end up with a shuffled lineup for 3-4 games trying to get diff guys rest....and u are weaker in all 4 games...this way, you are real weak in (1) game (just pray you can win) and you are back at full strength the next day...

Dusty makes his mistakes, but i dont really think this method is that bad

Votto was a left handed bat, they needed that series vs. Washington. The worse team and they go 2-2 at HOME.

Chris Heise(sp) should be getting split time with Bruce, this kid has a lot to work on. Chases bad pitches all the time. Dusty is one to leave a guy in thinking he will come around. He leaves pitchers in to long, takes them out too early. His decesions will keep hurting the Reds in the long run
