I've done Ct to Ca a couple of times. You could go balls out and make it in 3-4 days or so driving solo, or stretch it to a couple of weeks.

Don't miss Fishhead's corn and soybeans when in Iowa. He owns most of the state now.

Ya work out the marital shit with R, or is that going as badly as my misery of a marriage ?

Colorado and Grand Canyon are my suggestions, Northern Arizona ( Flagstaff area) is great in the summer, Taos, NM also.

I'd avoid Phoenix, and Texas choosing Colorado and the high country in AZ and NM instead.

Thinking about driving to the bash. I made this drive lastyear when I went out to Claifornia for 4 months. I didn't mind it. Nebraska and Utah was a long ass drive.
Denver was pretty cool.

I'd go deep South ...Frankfort, Nashville, Little Rock ( to see these places that I haven't been to) then you'd be on a line fore for Flagstaff, Taos, Grand canyon, etc.

Nothing much in Iowa or Kansas or Eastern Colorado, just farmland if you're driving through. Central and Western Colorado, and Utah is something to see if you've never been there....I lived there ( Colo) for 3 years so I'd prefer to see the more Southern places I haven't seen.

Depends what Ya want to see.

4 days direct driving ( 750 miles a day) if you drive hard, but you wouldn't do that....just fly if rushed. Even a week to get there involves 400+ miles a day. or maybe 7 hours driving a day....more if not going like a truck driver on a schedule.

I think you are talking about a leisurely week + to drive it....hopefully to reconcile ?

Mapquest way has all of Nebraska....nothing there....Kansas to the South of Nebraska sucks too. !

I'm liking my more Southern plan. Ya must be driving for a reason.

yes the bridge and tunnel are 20 mins from me. Just drive over on the 401 and he'd be right here. Hell I am a mile off the highway he would have to take.

I'm not crazy about the way mapquest wants to go from Chicago to Denver....a large leg of the trip....deviate from the direct route or fly instead....not much to see in Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Eastern Colorado ( IMO).

What do YA wanna see SS ?

There is an entire continent to see, hard for anyone to make specific recommendations that would best match what you like the most. Could make it in 72 hours. I took a little over three weeks, stopping in places where I knew people I could visit or had ways to earn cash

Minor league baseball games might be cool

I agree, but that Mapquest route sucks.

Jack ( SS) has a plan , that's why he is driving it. I can only say what I'd want to do ( southern to see something new for me). northern is possible for me too.....anything but Chicago to Denver in a straight line, for me....I don't need Iowa and Nebraska on a road trip.

I drove from Palm Springs to Cobourg (about an hour east of Toronto) and back last summer...three days each way.

Toronto to Chicago is pretty much like driving anywhere in southern Ontario. West of Chicago is corn, corn, and more corn, followed by rolling grasslands from western Nebraska to Denver. Denver to Grand Junction, CO is one of the most spectacular drives you'll ever have. Make sure you fill up in G.J. though, since there is literally nothing (not even a gas station) for a 100+ mile stretch through Utah.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat, but not with 3 kids, all aged 5 and under.
