I have a friend of mine who had a hemorrhagic stroke several months ago.He was my neighbor for years so I go by and visit him every so often. He was always outdoors doing stuff when he was able, for example he would mow a lot of the people in the neighborhoods yards for free just to help out and to be doing something. He is 69 years old and has been back and forth to the hospital for high blood pressure and some physical therapy.I went by to visit him today and he is really down in the dumps. He says he has constant pain in his left arm and that it drives him crazy. He can hardly walk.He just sits in the chair all day and waits to die.He feels real bad about putting his wife and family through this because he knows that his bad habits over the years contributed to this situation(he has put down all the bad habits by the way). He's been talking a lot about dying lately telling me things like "just know that he's free of the pain, remember him and to keep watch after his family for him".I don't like seeing him like this and I have tried my best to cheer him up.He has a wife and grandchildren in the house.I want to figure out if there is a way to cure or help with the pain he is having in his arm.I've done a little research and found that physical therapy is probably the best way but I would like to hear from anyone who has experience or knows anything about this subject. Thanks a lot.

i've seen people talk like what you are describing and then they DON'T die. They linger on for years in a limbo state of non production. Years later, they are simply just OLDER. Your friend may be wasting precious time. Your job as a visitor is to get him back in the game so he stops wasting his time, his families time. He's got to live to the best he can before 2, 3, 5, 10 yrs go by and it's all wasted

try some medical mary j

He won't go that route,he has stopped all of that type of stuff.I was trying to get him to play some cards with me yesterday just for fun(we used to play all the time) but I guess he has put all these types of things in the "evil" category now or he just has no interest in doing anything at all besides just sitting there.

Yes ,this is what I'm worried about too.I expressed this to him too but it's just not registering with him.

Try to get him to laugh about old times and whatnot. Keep doing what you're doing, and God bless you for being a good friend.
