I swear the Cubs have to be one of the most favored losing teams of all time

Today they should be favored because Soupcan is on the mound for the Cards, but some of their prices have been outrageous. -200 multiple times this year and -150 or higher has been very common...especially at home where they have a 19-27 record.

WTF I just don't get it.

Dempster lily and a decent bullpen with 4 guys in middle of lineup that were supposed to hit 25-35 hr a year and hit .260 or better.... Has alot to due with expectations... That's all a betting line is.... Expectations

until late aramis ramirez was on par with nick punto for worst offensive 3 b in league and Derek lee showed signs of losing his ability to carry the offense... Soriano is actually improved his approach over prior years and Marrlon Byrd is a guy who can finish a rallly or start a rally- buy one thing he isn't- is a one man rally.... He can't be the catalyst for a big inning when the guys around him flounder

In addition I'd like to add that lou pinella must hate fukodome and love colvin because he send colvin out there o fer after o fer..... And he can't hit lefties.... Same true of theriots dead bat... Fontenot far better

You have quoted their away record at 19-27; the Cubs are 24-26 at home. But, I still agree with you...as bad as they are, they keep getting big chalk..it does not add up.

The Cubs are tied for the league lead in quality starts. Starting pitching is obviously a big influence on the line.

What purpose does it serve for the future to play Fukodome?
Colvin is hitting .271 against LHP and .260 against RHP.

Sure did. Thanks for the correction. But yeah they sure have been heavily favored throughout the season at times.

cubs are one of the most(if not the most) betted teams in baseball. they have a huge fan base and the public just love to bet on em no matter what. that is the reason for line, it's all about perception and the cubs are a public betting team. i really don't see it being expectation as were already past the half-way point and they still suck. i could see expectations playing a part of the line at first but by now we all no they suck ass this year. i think there they only team that hasn't had a good little streak yet. except for losing streak.

I have heard this about all Chicago teams before - they are somewhat like the Yankees but not as severe.
