Large Caribbean population in Miami. The more Caribbean players on their team the more they get those people out to the ball park buying stuff. Same reason the Dodgers have Hispanic and Asian players on the team.

I think they have a large amount of hispanic players but not more than any other team.

You got Dan Uggla, Cogghlan, Murhpy and other white guys there too. They've had just as many white managers as hispanic. Probably less hispanic managers actually.

Yea, i understand that. But it just seemed a little odd as I watched the game friday nite vs braves. Seemed every single batter was DR or venz. No biggie, just seems a little odd. Yes, i know caribbean trumps american in terms of baseball talent, but nevertheless, i thought it was somewhat unusual.

I figured an organization would want to win over getting people in the stands, but again, the marlins have won a few world series over the last decade without filling the seats very well. Seems if this organization was dead set on winning year in and year out, they could be pretty dominant. I think their owner has other priorities.

marlins are a fire sale team, they probably have the best scouts in baseball, they turn out home grown talent every yr, but lack of fan attendance forces them to have a low payroll and sell guys off when they hit time for big contracts. florida is just a football area and even when the team is going good, not many people show up to the games.

very true kidman. I live in florida and the marlins always have a talented team, but seems something always happens to them mid year. Then they dump some good players and have to "rebuild" so to speak. To be honest, high school football rules south florida and it is not even close.

I dont know man. Maybe in the 80's and most of the 90's, but the U had declined over the last decade (although they are getting back). Have you ever been to a hs football game in south florida? Seriously, its out of control. I believe in 2006 or 2007, glades county won 3 state football championships. Thats one county. I believe they won the A , AAA , AAAAA.

i do wish someone did an undercover documentary on the gambling that goes on in those games involving inner-city type schools. The pressure some of these kids get is crazy.
