What are the pros and cons of each?
And which do you prefer?

Prefer offshore. Better odds, bet overnights are the two biggies for me. Most Vegas books treat the SB as a nuiscence.

Really ? You can get $ 1,000,000 down here in Vegas so I'm not sure what you're smoking ! I also think that the M gets out the earliest lines. I also get the best futures here in Las Vegas ! I am always getting posters and others asking me to get future wagers down for them. I'm not knocking the offshores but please get your stories straight ! Pros for Las Vegas of course is safety of your $$ and that's pretty important to me ! I have been swindled out of a lot of $$ by the offshores over the years. Lately things have seemed to stabilize a lot !

I too prefer the brick and motor casinos, the main reason is having my money in a bank account, and the reliability of being payed on the spot. Plus I think the offshores are getting pretty sharp with #'s.

Offshore for me but I am biased....don't like signing papers to make a bet and them telling me that I cannot bet over a certain amount....the M is an exception to most of the books in Vegas...

Nobody here is looking to place a $1 Million Bet. And that's Limited to where you can wager that amount, and "Who" you are.

So that being Said. Offshore for Me.

Yeah it's nice to be in Las Vegas and placing a wager, where after the game you can Collect.
But Overall ( like someone said......depends on which Shop ) You can't beat making a wager in the comfort of your own Home. :103631605

There are lots of things that I who live in Las Vegas love about the offshores also. Explain what you mean about signing papers to make a bet. I'm not sure I'm following you on that one. I'm not sure I have ever had to sign any papers to make a wager in Las Vegas !

I also enjoy wagering from the comfort of my home. My mention of being able to make a $ 1,000,000. wager here in Las Vegas on the super bowl was my response to the statement that Las Vegas treats the Super Bowl as a nuisance. Vegas loves the Super Bowl as it always brings huge crowds into the sportsbooks and every Casino in town hosts tons of SB parties...whoops ..I mean " big Game " parties . I love the luxury of getting the best of both. Vegas is the best for both futures and safety. Ease of checking odds, making wagers and the comfort of your own home all swing the final verdict in favor of offshores. BTW For the big games, both the M and the Venetian offer live wagering. Illini and I had a great time at the M trying it out. Nice gimmick, especially if one needs to cover one of your season long future wagers.
As for you're " Who you are " statement, I don't think that really applies because I recall seeing it posted on their Neon billboard and I would say that if anyone has the $ 1,000,000, Their wager is a go !

Kermit -

How are the limits on future bets in Vegas? I've never put anything down more than $500 on futures in Vegas, but was wondering if I would have a problem getting down a couple of grand on some season wins or World Series odds.

Kermit I respect your opinions but I don't see better lines necessarily being availbe in Vegas and actually think it's the other way around...

Better lines in futures or are you just talking better lines ? Offshore offers more possibilities such as lower vigs and also free half points etc. As for futures I have never been able to get as good odds on any sports offshore as I do in Las Vegas. That's why posters who I will not name call or PM me asking me to search for odds on this team or that. As you know, I'm a guy who loves to invest in future wagers and if the offshores were better, that's where my $$ would be. Trust me when I say that MGM properties, Harrah's properties, Station's properties and Coast properties are worthless when it comes to futures. However I know where to go and they almost always beat anything offshore. In the old days, I used to get the best futures offshore with books like Pinny, 5 Dimes, Carib, Grand Central,Cascade,Cris,Allstar, Aces Gold, BOS,Royal,Canbet, Bet Mill, WWTS, ETC. ETC . However a lot of those books are now gone, some have stiffed me, some have consolidated and the ones that are left just don't have the same great odds on their futures.

No problem at all at most of the better books but for futures, stay away from MGM ,Harrahs, Stations and Coast properties. For the most part their futures suck ! I have made a wager or 2 at the Coast but that's the exception, not the rule. As for season win totals, I check them all including the ones I mentioned because you want the best totals to go along with the best vig. The vig varies also you know. GL

Didn't the Kurt Warner-led Rams who came out of nowhere and won the Super Bowl that year pretty much put an end to the astronomical odds we used to see?

I remember it being week 3 or 4 and my buddy and I was at Excalibur, and they STILL had ridiculous odds up on them and my buddy and I layed a small amount on them to win it all & the NFC at the same time we were sitting there watching them roll another team.

Even though the Rams obviously wasn't the same team from previous years, I suppose the high odds were still up because back then we were all so used to seeing "the truth come out" eventually, thinking they would soon start to sink.

Boy did things change with futures after that year....

Better future odds in Vegas??? I beg to differ. I shop the offshore world and have always found much longer odds offshore. Take a look at 5dimes right now for virtually any sport and those are real future odds. If something is 5-1 in Vegas I can usually get 10-1 offshore. If something is 25-1 in Vegas I can usually find 40 or 50-1.

Kermit: I think when he was saying treatment of SB, he meant sharp bettors not superbowl. but I could be wrong. And about signing papers in vegas isn't that only if you're laying 10k or more? I've never had an offshore account yet, I know some pros that live in vegas don't even use the vegas casinos, but then I know some others that are paranoid of offshores too, and only use vegas. I usually find games I like then only bet them if I can beat the combined average of pinny, bookmaker, 5dimes and the Greek. From what I've seen the A+ books have really solid #'s.

Simply not true ! I have an account at 5 dimes and I can beat almost anything posted there. Where in Vegas are you going to ?

Cal Neva is here in Las Vegas also and they're one of about 5 places I go to.
Kenny B seems to have a different opinion but I'm sure He has no idea where to get the best odds here in Las Vegas. I'm waiting for his reply as to where He gets his Las Vegas futures odds at.

This question is impossible to answer because of the crowd here.

The smart people use offshore and Vegas. Those that are trying to make a living betting I should say.

Kermit, FW was referring to sports bettors....fw is one of the most knowledgeable people on these forums...shouldn't make assumptions
