I have been having slight occasional pains in my left testicle. Did a self exam and felt a slight lump on it. Did some on line research and found out it could be a few different things besides cancer. Anyone ever been diagnosed with testicular cancer or know of anyone who has? What are other symptoms that would be related to cancer? Any help would be appreciated.

may be just an infection, something I had about 20 years ago. Antibiotic cleared it up, but you should see a Dr.

If I've learned anything the past few days it's 'don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.' See your doctor asap for answers. Testicular cancer (if that is what you have) is beaten all the time, but you don't want to leave it unchecked due to its proximity to major organs. Early detection is key!

In the meantime, think positive!

Please keep us posted and good luck to you!

Had hernia surgery 2 years ago and noticed pains occasionally that run from that area to my groin to my testicle. Gained about 30 lbs since surgery was wondering if this might be causing the repared area to start stretching and be the problem. Had no problems with this until I gained the extra weight.

Did you get a mesh patch put on your hernia? I had one, as well (inguinal) two years ago and the mesh gave me problems for a while. But, still, go to your doctor for confirmation as hernia issues doesn't likely explain a lump. Please please please do not put this off .... if it is serious, delaying detection will only make the problem worse.

Is the lump sensitive or slightly painful to the touch? If so probably it may just be an injury or an infection of some sort. Not painful or insensitive to the touch is another matter as testcular cancer is usually (but not always) painless and definitely something you need checked out by your physician immediately. Naturally you should have the matter looked into in either case by a doctor.

Not to get ahead of things but simply FYI - Lance Armstrong, the famous cyclist, is a survivor of testicular cancer. His web site -- www.laf.orgwww.laf.org -- offers support and information for patients with testicular cancer.

the ultrasound technician who does these exams all day long told me 90% of them are benign cysts

Thanhs for the good advice was hoping this would just go away eventually but will probably see a doctor and see what he thinks. I did have the mesh on that hernia.

Ya, the mesh is a bad idea.

If you ever have hernia surgery again, call Shouldice (in Toronto) for a referral to a non-mesh using facility in your area. Shouldice is the best of the best in this field (Americans come up here all the time for their hernia surgeries.)

In the meantime, get ye to the doctor! And good luck and keep us posted!

could be a hyrdrocele or a varicocele or epididymal cyst...or any of a number of benign conditions.

But ya gotta go get it checked out!

Get into your primary care doc and let him either order an U/S of the scrotum or get you referred to a urologist, if necessary.

Dont delay!!

ive had a lump on my left testicle for about 12 years now...asked the doc about it....had it scoped and said they didn't see anything. theres obviously "something" there but if it was cancer i'd probably be dead by now.
