How often do you make a bet early knowing you will likely have a juicy middle later on?

Wondering if anyone here is really successful with betting a soft opening line that will eventually cross some key numbers to give you a nice middle. Say cowboys open at -2.5 and you bet them and closes at -4. Anyone come in and take the opponent at +4 on a regular bases hoping for a 3 or 4 point cowboy win?

I havent done it too much in the past but I am going to put in a lot of effort this year trying to work the numbers as much as possible early and try to work middles pregame. Last year I did get down at the half if there was a nice 4+ point middle opportunity but I have a feeling betting as soon as lines come out is going to be a whole new adventure!
