That certainly puts the Cubs in a bind. Lee will be a free agent at the conclusion of this season and he'd draw a decent package of prospects if moved before Saturday's non-waiver deadline. The Cubs are 10 games back in the NL Central and would probably like to get some value for the 34-year-old former slugger. But he has full power over any trade and it will not matter if GM Jim Hendry decides to label his club as "sellers."

Good for him

Obviously he had that added to his contract for a reason.....

I agree why draw up a contract like that if you are not prepared to follow through. That is like placing a bet and loosing and not taking the blame for the loss. The Devil is in the details..

cubs are not going to re-sign DLee...so I am not sure why he would not want to get himself into a pennant race? or the playoffs? Its going to be awhile before the Cubs sniff the playoffs again...Ricketts is bringing back Hendry.

DLEE already has his ring

true...But if he gets into the playoffs & had a good postseason...then maybe he gets a good contract from that club...

With the season he is having...he may be the FA left behind in 2011.

Maybe he's afraid he will miss the return of zambrano @)

funny note there...

DLee has been lobbying for that hot head's return...no...No, not to kick his ass...

Because he thinks the Cubs are better with 'em...hahaha...someone needs to tell DLee that Zambrano still wants to kick old DLee's.... bad back ass..For not diving for Pierre's ball down the line...Fact.
