Do you think there is a psychic element to picking winners?

At least some of the times? Like when you saw a pick and you somehow know it's going to win.

Has this ever happened to anyone? What do you think it is?

I understand what you are saying, and the answer to your question is 'yes'.

There are times when first glancing at the opening lines in football, a number just stands out, and just feels right, even before you break it down.

Some people call it a hunch wager, or a gut instinct play.

If this happened we would all be rich. I think we see a number and subconsciously think of a situation in the past that would correspond to our pick destroying it's competition. It is easy to look at a sheet briefly and say "wow, so and so looks great tonight". I bet if we did this every day, most people would probably be around a 50% cap. There is a quote, I can't remember by whom, that says "fortune favors the prepared mind". I believe this has a lot of application in betting - those of us how have prepared are way more likely to get that "hunch" on a soft number when the lines come out.

All gambling in a way involves psychology or a "psychic element." I'm a poker player and I will often times make a big call on a flush or straight draw that I normally wouldn't make because my gut is screaming that the card I need is going to come, has nothing to do with the odds I'm well aware of but simply as BillHill said a "gut instinct." Does the card always come? Hell no! But when it does it's a great feeling. Same goes for making a wager on a game that is 3 or 4 times larger than your usual wager, it's almost like you can see the final score before the game even starts. All of us on this forum are gamblers so we all get this feeling from time to time. I believe part of it is gut instinct and part of it is just being a true degenerate lol!
