what a rookie class. alot of future super stars for sure. Strasburg, Heyward, Posey, Stanton, Sanchez. these guys could be the top players in the game in the next 5 years or so...have we ever had a class like this before?

The post Roid era has certainly changed so many things about the game.

Check out 2001 though :

Ichiro, Pujols, Soriano, Oswalt, Sabathia, Rollins, Eckstein

It really is a pretty amazing class of rookies. Don't think there has ever been a year with this many heralded can't miss type of guys debuting. Were talking future mega star type players. Strasburgh, Heyward, and the others could be top 5 in league players realistically without exagerating. Remember as well many less heralded rookies will probably mature years from now and be solid players.

I wouldn't be suprised at all to see this class trump that 2001 class Rob posted.

What about also Jamie Garcia, Mike Leake, Starlin Castro, Tyler Colvin, just in the NL alone?

Going just by what they did in their rookie year, extremely hard to top 1987. Matt Nokes hit 32 homeruns and had an .880 OPS as a catcher and finished third in Rookie of the Year voting. Mike Greenwell had an OPS of .956 in 125 games and finished fourth. Kevin Sietzer had the best rookie year of any thirdbaseman in history; Mark McGwire's historic year is virtually even with Pujols

Huge amount of depth even for guys who didn't earn a single vote, Rafael Palmerio, BJ Surhoff, Terry Stienbach, Bill Wilkinson, etc

Very screwy year in a number of ways

Dominic Brown just debuted as well for the Phillies in right field. The highest rated Phils prospect since Ryan Howard was tearing up the minor leagues. Brown looked real good his first game too.
