MEMPHIS (AP) — The uncle of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright (FSY) says police told the family the athlete who had been missing for 10 days has been found dead.
Curtis Wright told the Associated Press that police called the player's father, Herb Wright, a couple of hours ago.

Police weren't commenting, but The Commercial Appeal cited a police source as identifying a body found in field in southeast Memphis as Wright's.

As police were at that scene, people flooded the area to watch.

The 34-year-old Wright was last seen July 18 when he was expected to fly out of town. His family filed a missing person report July 22.

Wright played 13 years in the NBA with five different teams.

According to sources, the body was found in the wooded area of Hacks Cross and Winchester Road. It appears, sources say he had been shot and it may be self inflected.

Goes to show again that you'll never EVER know what someone is going through in life no matter how high or low they seem. Another sad ending. Makes you wonder when you see someone in trouble, it might be the last time you see them. You just don't know

kinda weird....he would go out to a field just to shoot himself. Someone intent on suicide usually will want to do it so the body is found right away.....JMO

So somebody killed him and it looks like the police might suspect his X-wife now.

Strange how this is taking so long to play out.

Report: Memphis police search home of Wright's ex-wife

According to an AOL.fanhouse report, Memphis police spent several hours searching through the home of Sherra Wright, the ex-wife of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright, who was found murdered in a field in southeast Memphis on July 28.

The authorities' search of the home was revealed in a report by Memphis television station WPTY. News that Wright had died from a gun shot wound had surfaced in the days after the discovery of his body. Other details from aol.fanhouse's report:

No information was released on whether anything related to Lorenzen Wright's case was found at the home of Sherra Wright, 39, who was reportedly the last person to see Lorenzen Wright alive, telling police he left her house in suburban Collierville, Tenn., on July 18, 10 days before his body was found.

Lorenzen Wright's mother reported her son missing to Memphis police on July 22, suspecting foul play, according to a report on MyEyewitnessNews.com.

Memphis police investigators searched both inside and outside of Sherra Wright's home, including looking extensively at a grill and fire pit in the backyard, the report said.

Neighbors told police they had seen a large fire in the backyard following Wright's disappearance, believing such an occurrence to be unusual, particularly since it was on one of the hottest nights of the year.
