1) Is is a % of bankroll?

2) is it a set $ amount?

3) does units have to be in multiples of each other?
(i.e. is 2 units literally 2x 1 unit?)

4) can units be $100-$150-$200-$250-$300 or do they have to be $100-200-300-400-500....

(FWIW, i think it MUST be latter and a 5 unit MUST be 5x 1 unit)

5) so if someone bets 20 units then are they literally betting 20x a 1 unit play (wtf?)

and
6) what are .5 unit plays? (shouldn't these be 1 unit?) or do we just do % of 1 unit when we do plays for less than 1 unit.

1) Is is a % of bankroll? It Could be if you wanted it to be.

2) is it a set $ amount? Should be, and it could be any amount.

3) does units have to be in multiples of each other?
(i.e. is 2 units literally 2x 1 unit?) Again, it should be a Set number...thus making it 2x1

4) can units be $100-$150-$200-$250-$300 or do they have to be $100-200-300-400-500.... a Unit could be whatever you want it to be. as low as $1.00 !
which get's most people confused....ie, " I'm making a 100 Unit Play " = $100
If your Unit size is $100 ( which we use based on in the RX Tracking forum )
and you make a 5 Unit play = $500

(FWIW, i think it MUST be latter and a 5 unit MUST be 5x 1 unit)

5) so if someone bets 20 units then are they literally betting 20x a 1 unit play (wtf?) Yeah but, like I said above.....that 20 Unit play can be as little $20
and as high ( or even higher ) $2000 play

and
6) what are .5 unit plays? (shouldn't these be 1 unit?) or do we just do % of 1 unit when we do plays for less than 1 unit.Half a Unit = $50
or...depending on what your Unit = ?? 1 unit could be $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, etc etc

1) It's your average wager.
2) Yes, but differs for everyone.
3) Yes, for the sake of record keeping accuracy.
4) 1 unit is whatever 1 unit is. It only makes sense that 2 units would be double.
5) 20 times their average wager.
6) Half a unit is half your average bet.

The whole point of a unit is to keep an accurate tally of how you do. The idiots that wager on 100 unit plays are either wagering an absolutely insane amount of money or are admitting they usually bet VERY small. If it's not one of those 2 options, they are using the system of a "unit" incorrectly. People don't understand and that is why I laugh when people claim to have 400 units won in a season when their average play is 50 units or so. In a case like that, a 50 unit play is really a 1 unit play and a 400 unit season would actually equate to an 8 unit year. Some just like to suck their own dick by making up imaginary numbers that don't correspond to the system.

Exactly, that would be my answers too.

Not always. Some people increase the $ amount the more they win and decrease the $ amount per unit if their bankroll decreases.

If you use a % for units or adjust your unit amount then the ytd total on units mean absolutely nothing right?

If someone never bets 1 unit then they have to adjust what they are labeling things right?

I would take more credit in win/loss but ml (ESP MLB) ruins that thought too

You Really can't, as you pointed out. People can go 40-15 and be down 50+ Units betting -200 to -300 and losing those bets.

If Everyone's Unit size was the same...it would be No Problem.

$100 should be the universal Unit size...but some will say, I only Bet $10 a game...and leaves them out. or even $25 a game.....they won't post a 0.25 Unit Bet

It shouldn't be a $100 unit universal.....but it should be a 0-5 unit universal scale....if people want to boast high units, they should be limited to 5 unit bets across the board

That way they can still define their units.....20x an average bet sounds fishy...but 20x a 0.25 unit bet sounds reasonable

If someone is truly going 20x their "average" bet then they have much bigger problems that will soon halt the ability to gamble

It could be a percentage of a theoretical bankroll, lets say you are playing $100 per game, your unit could be 1% of your theorical 10K bankroll, even if you dont have the 10K in your pocket, as long as you have a good solid income, you could play this way.

I wouldnt want to do it without any income however.

CoachLT taught me:

1 Unit = 1% of your bankroll, regardless of what the size of your BR is ($100 BR = $1 units, $10,000 BR = $100 units).

Also, most "money management" thoughts are to be no more than 10-20% of your BR (so you would only bet 10-20 units) per weekend. Betting all 100 units could wipe you out the first week of the season.

As your BR gets bigger (if you are winning) then your units would get bigger (say you are up $500, so you now have $10,500...now a unit would = $105.

Just my thoughts on this topic....
