The first week of testimony in the federal extortion trial of Karen Sypher is expected to wrap up Friday with her estranged husband, Tim Sypher , back on the stand.
The day’s session was expected to begin at 10 a.m., but as of 11 a.m., court had not resumed as the judge and lawyers are apparently involved in discussions outside the courtroom.
Tim Sypher began his testimony Thursday after U of L men’s basketball coach Pitino
completed a morning of combative cross examination by Karen Sypher’s attorney, James Earhart. The coach testified for about 5 ½ hours over two days.
Karen Sypher is charged with attempting to extort money and gifts from Pitino after accusing him of raping her in a Louisville restaurant in July 2003.
