Completed July by going (2-1)(+1.08) winning with San Francisco (2-1) and Florida (6-3) but losing on the Chicago White Sox -1.5 (2-6). Following going (26-14)(+11.19)(65.00%) in June, the run continued in July going (35-24)(+9.80)(59.33%) for a nice two month run of (61.38)(+20.99)(61.61%) all on 1* plays. So now starts the dog days of summer as August begins. Hopefully, things will continue positively. Starting the new month with one afternoon play for today and will add a play on the evening game if warranted.

Year To Date Record: (70-50)(+5.00)(58.33%)

5* (0-2)(-10.00)
3* (7-9)(-7.14)
1* (63-39)(+22.14)

1* Florida (-133) Betjamaica
1* L.A. Dodgers/San Francisco Under 6.5 (-105) Betjamaica

Good luck everyone!

Yep! Had the post already written and was just waiting for the Marlins to close it out! Not only does this game show how good the Marlins are playing but brings the Giants within 1.5 games (3 games in the loss column) of the Padres. Miguel Tejada who? @):)

Next up the Marlins ace Johnson against the Padres Garland. I'll take the Florida ace any day of the week in this one! Best of luck to you! :toast:

The marlins are a real good young club, they might have dug themselves to big a hole to contend this year, but wouldn't be surprised if they make a real deep run next year. Tejada has started slowly but did deliver a key single there in the 9th. When you put Ludwick in this lineup, they will definitely have bettered themselves. I live in the bay area myself OMT and unfortunately another year passes where Sabien did not pull the trigger and get a bat. The arms they got in the bullpen should help but I still think they needed a bat. Posey's emergence masked this fact unfortunately.

I'll tell you what I think. If Ludwick was providing what the Cardinals needed behind Pujols, they would have never dealt him. Tejada will make a difference and the Padres definitely have improved their offense of paper. As for the Giants, the way they hit and scored runs in July, actually leading the league in runs scored, I don't feel they needed another bat. Where the Giants were weakest this whole season had been the middle relievers before Wilson enters. Sabean took care of that today by adding left hander J. Lopez (2.79 ERA) from Pittsburgh and R. Ramirez (4.46) from Boston. I hope they dump Casilla. He has been worthless and hurt them badly in spots this year. That's my take on it. JMO.

I agree the bullpen was the primary concern, but a bat was also a concern as well. Even if they could have gotten a posednik from kc ahead of the dodgers that would have given them some more speed and they could have pushed sanchez down to 7 in the order. Dunn would have been nice, but just one additional bat would have been good too. We'll see, they play some real tough teams coming up.

I can't disagree that both a bat as well as some more team speed would have been great, but this team currently has great chemistry and believes. I'm sure Sabean will look post trade deadline to see if anyone is available that clears waivers. Still a long way to go but it's getting very interesting. @)

That is true, the fact that we are even talking about them this time of year is a nice change of pace.

Evening Selection For Sunday 8/1/10

1* L.A. Dodgers/San Francisco Under 6.5 (-105) Betjamaica

A bit of reasoning behind this selection. This game will be played at 5:05 p.m. PDT which is the time of day that the sun is slowly setting in the West for about 3 hours and the sunlight will be in not only the faces of the hitters but the fielders as well. The Giants line-up is not suited well against left handers and Kershaw has a 1.71 ERA against the Giants. Meanwhile, Matt Cain has been rock solid, particularly at home although the Dodgers have hit well against him in the past, don't expect that tonight under these sunlight conditions. Also, SportsOptions reports that once again Eithier is doubtful for the Dodgers tonight for personal reasons and Uribe is out with a hamstring which weakens the Giants line-up. Appears to be another low scoring affair between these two team from here.

Good luck everyone!
