Can someone please offer a little insight as to why the total for tonight is set at 7.5? I was expecting 8.5 or so!

I understand that the Mets have been horrible on offense lately, but Lowe is going for the Braves tonight... he serves as the perfect remedy. The Braves rely on Lowe to eat up innings, and he generally has at least one disaster per game. The excellent bullpen won't come into play until the 7th inning or so.

Dickey for the Mets has been great, but the Braves roughed him up earlier in the season for 4 runs and 9 hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Any reason not to pound the over?

that is the correct side to be on with the total, but I like the Mets more to just get it done tonight.

Lineups:

NYM: Reyes SS, Pagan LF, Beltran CF, Wright 3B, Davis 1B, Thole C, Francoeur RF, Castillo 2B, Dickey P

ATL: Infante 2B, Heyward RF, Jones 3B, McCann C, Hinske 1B, Gonzalez SS, Ankiel CF, Cabrera LF, Lowe P

Glaus, who has been a black hole on offense lately for the Braves, is sitting tonight.

I usually don't offer much in the way of suggestions but if you're looking for the reasons this line seems low, maybe consider this:

Games this seasonNY METS 5-4 (+1.7 Units) against ATLANTA this season 9 of 9 games in this series have gone UNDER THE TOTAL this season .

Games played at ATLANTA this season.ATLANTA is 2-1 (+0.5 Units) against NY METS this season 3 of 3 games in this series have gone UNDER THE TOTAL this season .
R.A. DICKEY vs. ATLANTA
DICKEY is 0-1 when starting against ATLANTA with an ERA of 4.05 and a WHIP of 1.649.His team's record is 0-1 (-1.0 units) in these starts. The UNDER is 1-0.

However, as was mentioned earlier regarding Lowe---
DEREK LOWE vs. NY METS
LOWE is 3-4 when starting against NY METS with an ERA of 6.66 and a WHIP of 1.720.His team's record is 5-5 (-0.6 units) in these starts. The OVER is 7-3

With the conflicting trends on the pitchers, I think I'd pass but if I had a gun to my head I'd be more prone to lean under than to pound the over. I'm not playing it but all the luck if you go with the over.

Thanks for the trends, Carver. Only your 3rd post?? With helpful info like that, you should be more active!

IMO the only thing that will kill this under is the Mets staying cold offensively

I have decided to go with the following two plays:

1H-Mets (New York) / 1H-Braves (Atlanta) Ov 3½ -130 LP R Dickey - R / D Lowe - R
Mets (New York) / Braves (Atlanta) Ov 7½ -105 LP R Dickey - R / D Lowe - R

Will be one of my largest plays this year
