And do you feel comfortable that blu ray is 'It' for the near future or is something else going to step in very soon?

It just seems like it's taking longer to win people over compared to other electronic technologies in recent years......

to each their own....certainly for the best all around experience, blu ray is the way to go.....but financially.....the 20 to 30% price difference doesn't justify it

only buying blu ray from now on.

i've noticed if you go to target or best buy, they always have some blue rays for $10 each, and they change every couple weeks. just picked up major league in blu ray for $10.

I am fucked myself. I have over 2700 DVD movies/TV shows and about 40 Blu-Ray movies. I also have about 90-100 VHS movies that includes classics like The Godfather Trilogy, Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile and Saving Private Ryan that I still need to convert over to Blu-Ray as opposed to DVD. I have been doing them slowly but surely when I see them on sale. Just this week I converted The Sixth Sense and The Austin Powers series to Blu-Ray from my VHS collection.

I can't even imagine trying to upgrade my DVD's to Blu-Ray because I invested too much money it. There are certain Blu-Rays that I see on sale on Amazon for $10 that I would love to upgrade from my DVD but I resist the temptation. I think the only way I could see myself upgrading is if I can sell my DVD version of the movie for at least half the cost it would hit me to replace it with Blu-Ray.

Something new will come out in 5 years just to stimulate consumption. It will probably be called Gold-Vision or Platinum Image and it will be just a **** hair better than the 1080P. Home Entertainment is here to stay guys. Just think 20 years ago movies weren't even available for the public to buy. The movie industry had their own source of home distribution with cable, and renting VHS. Now having your own movie collection pretty much wiped out your local video stores.

TV has changed due to DVD sales too. No more 32-37 episode seasons. The networks now know they only need to pay for 13 and 22 episode seasons and then quickly package that shit on DVD and make another quick buck. In the old days if you missed an episode of your favorite show you were fucked until it hit syndication. Nowadays you can buy the episode online before it even airs on your TV.

Blu-Ray is just the beginning. Once sales level off and decrease at the $19.99 - $24.99 per new blu-ray release they will price drop that shit discontinue DVD and release the new and improved format for your new 1420p TV.

What do you do with the collection? Do you watch these old movies again?

Yes I rewatch my movies and TV Shows all of the time. I will admit there are some movies I bought that were just horrible and I will never watch again. What is going to suck is IF Netflix ever gets approval for all old and new movie releases to be available via download to PS3, XBOX and *** it will render my movie collection worthless just like my CD collection became when I bought my Ipod Classic.

Only DVD's. I am guessing one needs a Blu Ray player to play Blu Ray discs.
If so, i can't be bothered to make the purchase & see little dif in the 2, anyway.

I have a collection of dozens, maybe hundreds, of DVDs. Also rent a lot,
but this time of year calls for being out hunting pussy, as 9-10 months of
cold & wet will hit Rain City soon. So all the skin, legs, arms and boobs will
be covered over with heavy clothing.
