Good.
Dislike Cuban, and how much bseball does he really know?

Ryan knows the game inside out, and just as important, he's a sharp businessman, has virtually every dollar he ever made, and turned those dollars into a fortune, owned a bank, two minor league teams, a restaurant, not to mention could be a Congressman if he ever wanted to run.

I think Nolan is right for the Rangers, but IMO Cuban would make a great baseball owner without a cap.

Rangers have fans? Ive lived in Texas my whole life and only met a few before this year. Now they are coming out from their holes, just like the mavs of 10 years ago.

Cuban plays wiffle ball in his greatroom. I seen Dennis Rodman hit a inside the house Homerun one night in there. He used to post here too. Mark Cuban did...

There are no Ranger fans South of Waco or east of Austin... Well that was the rule until this year when the Astros stunk it up so bad I think a few Astros fans jumped ship.

Yeah I think outside of metroplex there was no ranger fans. And you are right, I think a few astro fans have bailed and joined the rangers. During the last few years, there might have been 1-2% rangers fans in Houston during the astros/rangers series at MMP. This year it was like 30% ranger fans or more.

Exactly. Mark Cuban would have brought excitement to Texas Ranger baseball. He resurrected a crappy Dallas Mavericks francise, and he would have done the same with the Rangers.

That shit was rigged, everyone knows cuban could have out bidded jesus. Its said the good ole boys just want ryan in there. I loved the thought of Nolan owning the team till I heard cuban was in the running. He would be an amazing owner. He has passion to WIN not just make a profit he would give the yankees a run on every free agent. Cliff lee will now be a yankee next year.

Horseshit. I sat in those aluminum outfield stands in the 80's and 90's with my grandparents and rooted like hell for Jim Sundberg, Mickey Tettleton and the boys. I've been a Ranger fan my whole life. The Astros can bite my 1 footer.

How the hell do you rig a bankruptcy auction? It's not like the judge all of a sudden stopped the thing. You have no damn clue what you're talking about on this one.

And to the original topic...yes it was hard to find Rangers fans south and east of I-35 until this season. As one who grew up in West Texas and now lives in Dallas, I've been going to Arlington Stadium and now the Ballpark since I was a little kid so this is a long damn time coming for this team and the loyal fans. With as financially strapped as they've been, I'm sure they'll take all of the bandwagon fans they can get to put more money in their pockets.

One of my favorite childhood memories was sitting row 1 behind home plate for Red Sox (Clemens) vs Rangers (Ryan) on April 30, 1989. Ryan strikes out 11, Clemens strikes out 6 and throws a complete game, and the Rangers win 2-1. I've got a picture in my office that was taken from our seats of Nolan tagging Boston's Mike Greenwell in a rundown between 3rd and home. Nolan signed it for me a few years later. Ok...I'm done with the reminiscing...

Ditto...Rangers fan my entire life and there have always been plenty in north Texas - no matter how terrible they've been in the past.

I remember tickets for the outfield bleachers at Arlington Stadium being about $3 in the mid to late 80s

it wasnt rigged. If anything Cuban might have been in bed with some of the creditors to help drive the bid price up. But thats not likely either.

As a Mariners fan, I'm glad Cuban didn't get the team. What's the Rangers payroll, 68 million? Scared the hell out of me thinking what Cuban would have done without a cap. Nolan has brought a pitching mentality to the Rangers, but the Rangers are going to have to increase their payroll substantially with all their arbitration guys coming up.

actually, Nolan has taken this team from last 2 first in 2 years. This is why I wanted Nolan to stay on with this team and not Cuban. Cuban spends money but not always wisely. That's why he has no NBA championships and keeps getting bounced in round 1 of the playoffs now. I like Cuban and am a big Mavs fan but he should stick with NBA and getting *that* right before delving into MLB.

and I've been a Rangers fan since the late 70s here in Austin. used to listen to games on WBAP 820 many summer days...
