Youkilis will be in a cast for the next six weeks. So even if the Red Sox manage to climb over the Rays and make the playoffs, he won't be available. The first baseman suffered the unfortunate injury during Monday night's game against the Indians. His absence should mean more playing time for Mike Lowell, who was shopped aggressively at the trade deadline but never dealt.
