You can use both phones and laptops. You cannot bring them to the betting counter; however.

I've been told to get off my phone as recent as last year while in the sportsbooks. But I see people doing it all the time. And I've seen people on laptops and no one says anything. One of my books even has limited internet access on the mini tvs in the sportsbook (espn.com mlb nhl nba ect.com and covers.com

I live here in Las Vegas and there isn't a Sportsbook in town that will care if you have a cell phone or laptop in their Sportsbooks. You still are not allowed however to use either when you are at the wagering window or in close proximity to making a wager at the window.

Yeah I was at the Luxor on the phone and walked up towards the window and a clerk got all over my ass.

Shit man just tell me politely that I could not be on the phone near the betting windows.

It's because of the federal wire act, which makes it illegal to take bets over the phone, they could lose their license that's why they get all pissy about it.

Kermit up top is right, they don't care. They only care while at the window. Places like M casino south of The Strip on LV Blvd seem like they encourage it. They are smart enough to know that it generates more action. For the record, M casino has the best looking waitresses in the city.
