He had been hoping to postpone it until the offseason, but this is probably the best route to take. Coghlan will have a torn left meniscus repaired and should be ready for spring training next year. Logan Morrison will continue to play left field and Wes Helms and Donnie Murphy should get the bulk of the time at third base.

Chris Coghlan (knee) has decided to go ahead and undergo season-ending knee surgery.
Coghlan suffered the unfortunate injury while trying to slam a pie into the face of teammate Wes Helms :ohno:
