Milwaukee Brewers -147 (listed – bookmaker.com)

The Milwaukee Brewers are playing pretty hot baseball right now. It is well known that they are “consistently inconsistent (coach Ken Macha)”. Well, one area that the Brew Crew has been consistent in a positive way is in beating up on sub .500 teams. They are 12-7 post All-Star break against bad teams.

Milwaukee starter, Chris Narveson, has had some success on the mound this season and has collected 9 wins. He has a tremendous swing, collecting 10 hits in 30 at bats – this certainly makes for a challenging dynamic while coaching a National league game.

Arizona is 11-18 vs. LHP – watch out though because they have some HR potential and are one of the very best N.L. teams in terms of power numbers. The D’backs have trouble opening up series on the road AND have only 2 road opening wins since May 1st.

The Brewers have great offensive potential when the going is good. I expect it to continue on this home stand after they cooled off the Houston Astros who came in playing their best ball of the season. The loss of J. Edmonds won’t be felt too much in this series, even though it would be nice to have him as PH/late defensive replacement.

The true angle on this game seems to be that Narveson can A.) Not have to pitch a dominant game to win, as he has proven many times this season B.) Help himself at the plate by having a good base hitter in the 9 hole C.) The Brewers have a good thing going right now with Hoffman and Axford in the bullpen.
***The Brewers should be able to muster an inning or two from their bullpen until they get to the good stuff (Hoffman and Axford).

The Diamondbacks may have been feeling good after winning three straight at home against the Padres, but the 10-1 beating yesterday should help squelch that winning feeling.

D’backs have only 15 road wins all season AND are a 6-13 dog in +125 <--> +150 moneyline spot.
