WTF, guy has been solid, Leake has been struggling with 18 runs in his last 14 innings.

Cincy really trying to fuck up their run at the playoffs I see.

No games on Thursday or Monday. He wasn't going to pitch...He'll be back in 10 days after a fill in start in minors.

correct.....He's likely got more Options available for being shuttled between ML and AAA than does Leake or other SP

the Reds had planned to skip him his next start , starting to try to protect him for stretch so he was next due aug 18th, instead he will now pitch aug 19th and the reds get an extra bat on the bench for a week. i dont like it, skipping starts can mess up an pitcher. leake isnt the same since hes been doing it, he should finish the year in the minors and bailey come back up imo

has nothing to do with 'options'.....many posters don't even understand anything about the whole 'options' concept. Travis Wood can be optioned to the minors as many times as they want (has to wait 10 days before call up if he plays in minors). Leake could be sent down and an 'option' wouldn't even count if his assignment is less than 20 days. You basically can call a player up and down as many times as you want for 3 years - after that time, he is 'out of options' and has to be on the 25 man roster or clear waivers before going back to minors. The Reds are never going to be concerned about them running out of 'options' with either player as they will be 25 man roster players next year and year after. There's no set # of times a player can be sent up and down. Once you option a player down to minors in a given year - you can bring him up and down as much as you like *given certain time restriction of 10 days (unless a player from 25 man is put on DL they can come up then). Basically a player has 3 options...they last an entire season.
