I currently work part-time at a good paying job that I love. I also collect partial unemployment every week. Heres my Question? I was called by a local store inquiring about an application I had filled out a while back for a part-time night position. I told the guy I was no longer interested. Now one of the Questions they ask on your weekly claim for is ( did you refuse an offer of work). Since he didnt actually offer me a Job on the phone, never had an interview, or how much the pay or hours would be offered would I need to say yes on that Question that I refused an offer of work. Kind of worried about this, I dont want to have to answer it yes if I dont need to. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Why not take the job instead of collecting unemployment? It's gotta pay better than your unemployment does....

If you say yes then I think that you could lose the unemployment benefits.I am pretty sure that they will not know, unless of course its a set up(which I am pretty sure it isn't).I am not condoning dishonesty ,I'm just saying.

Read over the contract then make your decision.
Or you could tell a half truth like,"it conflicted with your current work schedule"or something like that,if it will make you feel better.

There are tons of people out there that are collecting unemployment and have no intentions of trying to get a job.You should not feel bad about collecting it just because you don't want to spend every waking hour at work.At least you are working a job and not just sitting on your ass collecting the full benefits.
