the fact that they took him out with a no-no going and it in turn proved to be the wrong decision

if that makes sense, maybe it was just a poor choice of wording.

He missed his last start due to elbow issues and winning the division is more important than a no- hitter, wouldn't you agree?

I think if it remained 1-0, then he would've gone out there to pitch the 8th. Slowey was tiring in the 7th from what i saw, so I think he gave the green light to gardenhire to take him out.

He was at 106 pitches btw

106? ok well i still thought it was very debatable especially when the reliever comes in and almost blows it

So a guy who rarely pitches deeply into a game, is coming off an elbow issue, should stay in a game where he will probably throw about 125 pitches? I don't see how a no-hitter is more important than trying to keep him healthy for the stretch run.

throwing another 20 pitches doesnt guarentee to have a negative effect on him. but im not arguing this, theres no point

If he had given up one hit earlier in the game everyone would be saying it's a great decision to get him out of there now with a one-hitter. In around 22 starts he has gone 7 innings 4 times. I guess it comes down to whether you think a no-hitter or making the playoffs is more important.

One of the reasons my "lowly" Twins win @ the rate they do is Gardy rarely makes a bad decision. And YES it was time for Kevin to come out. Gardenhire said before the game he was going to watch very closely because of his recent arm problem. He should win Mgr of the Yr hands down! We've gotten rid of some great players, (Ortiz, Hunter, Johan, Garza, etc.) and we're still on top. We have the WSX coming in for 3, they'll see, Loriano, Pavano & ?. Should be interesting, you can't GET a seat!! Too bad we can't seem to beat NYY.<><>
