Chipper Jones underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Saturday morning, his agent B.B. Abbott said.
“It went very well,” Abbott said in a text message from Piedmont Hospital.
The surgery was performed by Braves orthopedic surgeon Dr. Marvin Royster, the same surgeon who performed the first surgery Jones had for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in 1994. Saturday’s surgery took two hours, Abbott said, and a graft was transplanted from the heel of a cadaver. The surgery was outpatient, so Jones got to head home by mid afternoon.
Rehabilitation is expected to take six months. Jones said Friday he will make a comeback attempt with the Braves in spring training.
