I expect Johnson to snap his funk against the Pirates. Pirates always seem to struggle against the so-called aces in the league. No to mention Mr. Ohlendorf has to have one of the worst run support averages in the league. I like a Marlins win tonight fellas.

I have been waiting for this one. I am a Pirate fan and I know we suck. LOL. Johnson will slaughter these young Buccos

actually it's just the exact opposite. it seems the aces struggle with the pirates as pirate pitchers get all pumped up for the game. will try to post specifics but in last two years i remember them taking out plenty of aces at home...lincecum, zambrano, carpenter, oswalt but then lose to scrubs badly like kendrick and wolf

Let me be more specific.

The nine pitchers other than Johnson that make up the league's top 10 in ERA are 8-2 with a 1.22 ERA in 12 starts against the Pirates.

a little sample of what i'm talking about. I much rather lay -120 with a scrub pitching in PNC then -180 with an ace. don't know why but the Bucs play fairly well at home against top pitchers...not saying they don't lose 9-1 tonight (hell, we are the worst team in baseball) but this is the only situation I don't recommend betting against the Pirates.

2010
Gallardo tight loss 3-2
beat Oswalt 9-0
beat Hamels 3-2
Lincecum tight loss 5-4
Carpenter tight loss 4-3

beat Cueto 5-4

2009
beat Kershaw 6-5
beat Gallardo 3-1
beat Lincecum 2-1
Greinke tight loss 3-2
beat Lee 3-2
beat Pavano 10-6
beat Johan 3-1
beat Ubaldo 11-4

Yeah I like Johnson to hold them down tonight. Especially since Ohlendorf seems to have no luck with with run support for whatever crazy reason.

yeah, not sure what Ohlendorf's deal is. Last year he was lights-out at PNC (8-2 2.64) and this year he's as bad at home as he is on the road. scary a team's top starter (ERA-wise at least) can be 1-9

His ERA isn't horrible I just think he may need a change of scenery or something to get back on track.

Being from The Burgh, you are absolutely right! For some reason the Pirates are greasy at Home, and actually look like a good team at times:lol: Johnson has been struggling lately and I wouldn't be surprised if Ohlendorf outpitches him@)
