</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>The Eagles are leaving Lehigh for their NovaCare complex in Philly, and beat writer Geoff Mosher is recapping camp. According to Mosher, McCoy improved as a pass catcher and particularly as a decisive inside runner. Mosher acknowledges that McCoy and the Birds' ground attack will "probably play second fiddle to the passing game," but he remains a fine PPR RB2.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>The Eagles' running game has not looked sharp so far. McCoy is an explosive talent, but still lacks polish when running inside and can be brutal in pass protection. He'll get a boost when G Todd Herremans and C Jamaal Jackson return to full strength. Still, we like McCoy much better in PPR formats and owners should be aware that he's going to lose red-zone work to Mike Bell, Leonard Weaver and Michael Vick.

Michael Vick apparently isn't the only one that damaged his ribs on Sunday. McCoy was able to play through the injury, but his status for Sunday's game against the 49ers is now very uncertain. Players can sometimes play through lower rib fractures, but are highly susceptible to aggravation and often have trouble with extended reps. Mike Bell is next up on the depth chart.

La Canfora also states that the Eagles are not working out any running backs because they hope to have McCoy back in 1-2 weeks. It seems very unlikely he'll suit up this weekend, and even if he does, his workload would be limited. However, the short timetable for return would seem to lessen the chances they'd go after Marshawn Lynch. Mike Bell will fill in while McCoy is out.

"We'll see what happens," he said. "It's hard to really tell right now, so we'll find out." Playing through rib injuries can often come down to an issue of pain tolerance. McCoy is shaping up as a game-time decision for Week 5.

McCoy missed practice again Thursday, and his situation has the look of a game-time call for the Sunday night tilt at San Francisco. Mornhinweg went on to express confidence in backup Mike Bell should in the event that McCoy misses the game. Don't expect to have a definitive read on McCoy's status before Sunday afternoon.

McCoy is listed as questionable but practiced without restrictions, confirming he's on track to start. "I played the whole half injured (against the Redskins), so I’m definitely confident," McCoy said. "There’s gonna be a little pain, but that comes with the territory." Reid said McCoy felt "pretty good" during Friday's workout, and it looks like he'll receive close to his full complement of snaps at San Francisco. Pencil him in as an RB2. Mike Bell, not a fantasy factor this week, will head back to his short-yardage role.

LeSean McCoy - RB - Eagles Despite coach Andy Reid's claims that LeSean McCoy (rib, questionable) will be a "full go" for Sunday Night Football against the 49ers, the Philadelphia Daily News foresees an expanded role for Mike Bell.
The Daily News is just guessing, but it's realistic to think that the Eagles could use Bell as the primary inside runner with McCoy being limited to in-space situations instead of risking him aggravating his injury in a pileup or with multiple defenders tackling McCoy. The 49ers are playing tough run defense, so consider McCoy more of a low-end RB2 or flex than an RB1. October 10 - 10:32 a.m. ET

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>"I'm going to tell you, he's a tough nut," said Reid. "He was safe to play, which was most important, then it was a matter of being able to endure it." The worst of the rib injury is behind McCoy, whose 538 yards from scrimmage are third-most among NFL backs. He's also second in TDs (5), fifth in yards per carry (5.4), and tied for third in fantasy points.

LeSean McCoy - RB - Eagles Updating a previous item, LeSean McCoy (rib) returned to a full practice on Thursday.
An earlier report by ESPN's Adam Schefter had McCoy bundled in with Michael Vick as a non-participant Thursday. It turns out McCoy wasn't limited in any fashion. McCoy remains a top-12 fantasy option this week against an underrated Falcons defense. October 14 - 5:07 p.m. ET

He'll be good to go this weekend against Tennessee, but this is a reminder that he could aggravate the injury at any time. Eldra Buckley is currently backing McCoy up but could be passed on the depth chart by Jerome Harrison.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Given that McCoy has caught 70 of those targets, he is likely headed to the Pro-Bowl when rosters are announced on Dec. 28. The former second-round pick hasn't gotten hurt, he's logged consistent touches in the running game, and has impressed with a 5.3 YPC through Week 14. He's been a savior to his fantasy owners, and should be viewed as a first-round pick in PPR leagues in 2011 given his stellar supporting cast in Philadelphia.
