It' only overly hot for 1-2 months, just like Vegas.......a tad cooler than say the strip, because you are 2200 ft higher in altitude.
There are tons of hiking trails on "THE LOOP" that one can experience.......the loop is about 5-6 miles in length and offers many spots to pull off and sight see and/or hike.
Climbing the canyons is relatively easy because they are like walking stairs in many instances........but be careful, it can still be dangerous and one will have many chances to severerly hurt themselves.......have good hiking shoes or a quality pair of sneakers.
After doing THE LOOp you can continue on and hit BONNIE SPRINGS, an old western town that performs gun shootouts and there is a place to grab some grub. They also have a petting zoo and an array of farm animals plus peococks, birds, rabbits, etc., etc.
From B.Springs. continue on to Blue Diamond, a small town you can walk around in ......population around 1200.
Hiking the RED ROCK LOOP should become a common thing for you, especially since you live so close to it............IT IS A FANTASTIC RECREATIONAL AREA and one that I've personally visited no less than 100 times.
